Challenge the Wight 2024. Ready to Conquer the Island at Night?
Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 29th, 2024, and prepare for an unforgettable night as you take on the Challenge the Wight marathon or long-distance walk. Hosted on the Isle of Wight, this event raises funds for Aspire Ryde, a community hub providing essential services.
The event offers participants a choice of a full marathon or the half-distance route, ensuring there’s a challenge for everyone..
Event Overview
The 2024 Challenge the Wight kicks off from The Needles and concludes at Yaverland Bay, covering some of the Isle of Wight’s most stunning landscapes. The event features:
Full Marathon
A 26.2-mile route starting from The Needles to Yaverland Bay.
Half Marathon
Choose between starting at The Needles and finishing at Carisbrooke Castle or beginning from Carisbrooke Castle for the final 14 miles.
What to Expect?
Participants will be equipped with a map and GPX file for navigation, while directional arrows will mark key junctions along the route. In addition, several manned checkpoints along the way will offer snacks, water, and safety support to keep you energized and motivated throughout the night.
Upon crossing the finish line at Yaverland Bay, all participants will be treated to a well-deserved bacon butty, a cup of tea, and a complimentary breakfast to celebrate their achievement.
A shuttle service from Yaverland to the starting points will be available for a small donation to Aspire.
